Washing your shirt

Many a times we do not know the proper way to wash clothes especially when it comes to our shirts and other formal clothing. It’s not once, that we lazily neglect the instructions written at the package of the new clothes we get. Ultimately we end up ruining expensive clothes and shirts that we especially buy for business purposes.

Your formal shirts too need your attention. They also should be washed as carefully as you wash your party wear. The difference would be the way of washing them. Formal shirts need different type of care, from your heavy party wear.

Here are some tips for you, which will help you to wash your shirts:

First and foremost tip is that you should give your shirt a wash even before wearing it for first time. This first wash will remove superfluous colour particles from the shirt if it has any. Furthermore, it will ensure you a more comfortable fit, even when you are going to wear it for the first time.

You can even add little bit of vinegar to the water while rinsing your new shirt for the first time. Vinegar will avoid, or at least minimize the colour loss. Hence you will see your shirt as it is, when you had bought it and not with a wash-faded colour.

Always turn the shirt’s sensitive parts such as collar and cuffs inside.

Don’t overload your washing machine. That also might harm shirts. On an average machine can take in 6 to 7 shirts per wash load.

In addition, wash the all your clothes at their appropriate temperature. Always double check with the sewn-in label, to find out the correct temperature at which you should wash your shirt.

When you hand your shirt to dry, make sure it is straight.

Pull your shirt back into the right shape just after washing. It keeps the shirt in the right shape and avoids the extra efforts needed for ironing.

If your shirt is of non-iron Splendesto products, it is better to hang it and let the water drip.

Also check the drying temperature of the shirt from its label, before you throw it in the tumble dryer. If not dried at the right temperature, your shirt will shrink and will loose its shape. Also air drying, when clothes are yet damp, is the best solution to avoid shrinking.

Additionally if there is a stain on the shirt. Wash it out first and treat it if need be. Use the stain remover to remove any spots before you wash the shirt in machine.

Ironing is another important aspect. Don’t neglect it. Iron your shirt section by section. Iron the collar first and then cuffs. Then go on to back, side and front.

Starch your shirt to add little crispiness to it. It will give a bit more formal look to your personality

Pay this little attention towards your shirts, and it will extend the life of your clothing.
