Tips for measuring fits for men's shirt

If you are looking for a shirt the first thing that you should know is your measurement. If you are getting a shirt you should know first your neck size, followed by your sleeve length. Wearing ill-fitting shirts is surely not good and is very uncomfortable, so you better measure yourself to get an accurate fit. Here are some tips for measuring fits for men's shirts:

Prepare the things that you need. Basically what you need is a tape measure & full-length mirror.

NOTE: It is better to get your measurement wearing lightweight clothing. Sometimes it is also recommended to ask one of your friends who would take your measurements. Always keep the tape measure snug but not too tight and you should stand right as well to get the right measurement. Get your neck size. Place the tape measure around the biggest part of your neck. It is the part where you wear your collar every time your shirt is buttoned.

NOTE: You can adjust this measurement depending on your needs. The neck sizes in shirts increases by a 1/2 inch measurement from one size to the next. When you are fitting a shirt you should button it all the way up. You should not leave the top button of the shirt undone. If you feel it is too tight then the shirt is too small for you. Measure your sleeves: bend your elbow & place your hand on your hip. Get someone to measure the inches from the middle of the back of your neck, around your shoulder and your elbow to your wrist bone.

NOTE: You should follow the curve of your shoulder and arm. You should add an inch to the measurement and this would be your sleeve length. Get your chest size. The measurement should start under your armpits then around your chest part (in the fullest part) and then shoulder blades.

Waist Size. For your waist size you should measure around where you normally put on your pants. You should keep the tape measure loose by placing a finger between your body and the measurement tape.
